The Mojave Rattlers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They lost to Sunrise Mountain on the road by a decisive 48-29 margin. Mojave has not had much luck with Sunrise Mountain recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Mojave still got an impressive performance from Jac'omoire Fahie, who scored 12 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Fahie grabbed two or more steals.
Mojave struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Sunrise Mountain pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.
Sunrise Mountain can attribute much of their success to Skye Warren, who scored 12 points along with five steals. Warren hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Delyla Ross was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 13 rebounds and seven steals.
Mojave's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.3 points per game. As for Sunrise Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 12-9.
Mojave on the road again on Thursday and play against Basic at 6:30 p.m. on January 18th. Hopefully Basic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Tuesday. As for Sunrise Mountain, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Rancho at 6:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Rancho is ranked 54th, while Sunrise Mountain is ranked 37th).
