The Aurora Central Catholic Chargers typically have all the answers at home, but on Tuesday the St. Francis Spartans proved too difficult a challenge. St. Francis walked away with a 66-55 victory over Aurora Central Catholic. With that victory, St. Francis brought their scoring average up to 52.4 points per game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Francis to victory, but perhaps none more so than Riley Austin, who scored 22 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Austin has scored at least 25% of St. Francis' points. Another player making a difference was T?a Rubino, who scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for St. Francis and bumps their season record up to 4-1. As for Aurora Central Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Francis will take on St. Laurence at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully St. Laurence focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Tuesday. As for Aurora Central Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Metea Valley at 7:30 p.m. Metea Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 445th, while Aurora Central Catholic is ranked 65th).
