The Marshall Mavericks lost against the Longview Lobos back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Marshall was outmatched by Longview at home and fell 92-48. Marshall has not had much luck with Longview recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Longview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Davis Justice led the charge by scoring 17 points. The game was Justice's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendric Brown, who scored 19 points.
Marshall has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Longview, the win was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-2.
Marshall will head out on the road to face off against Tyler at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tyler is on a five-game streak of home losses, Marshall a nine-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. Longview will take on Whitehouse at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Whitehouse will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 838th, while Longview is ranked 72nd).
