Melia Aionaaka made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rosely Hensley-Mokiao, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Madyson McGaughey, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Shadow Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Silverado only posted an OBP of .389.
Meanwhile, Bishop Gorman faced Liberty in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Bishop Gorman fell 4-1 to Liberty. The Gaels haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
GIANNA HORNYAK spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.
At the plate, Bishop Gorman saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was BROOKLYN HICKS, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Shadow Ridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .448. However, it's not like Bishop Gorman struggles in that department as they've averaged .323. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Shadow Ridge's way against Bishop Gorman in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Shadow Ridge made off with a 13-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Shadow Ridge since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
