The Veterans Warhawks will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Northside Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Veterans' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 14-6 to Tift County. Despite 158 more yards than Tift County, Veterans couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
The team lost despite holding Tift County to a paltry 118 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Veterans' ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Kane Byrd and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Northside was beaten by Lee County 56-7 on Friday. Northside was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-0.
The losing side was boosted by Da?veon Latimore, who rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown.
Veterans' defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.0 points per game. As for Northside, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Veterans was taken down by Northside 58-7 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Will Veterans have more luck at home instead of on the road?
