The Auburn Trojans will face off against the Lake Washington Kangaroos at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Wednesday just wasn't the day for Auburn's offense. They fell 3-0 to Mt. Rainier on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, while Lake Washington put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Newport - Bellevue. The Kangaroos were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Knights. That looming 11-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Kangaroos yet this season.
Kane Nishikawa made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Mason Smithwick looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Lake Washington is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 6-7 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Noah Kwon was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Will Cooley, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Lake Washington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Newport - Bellevue only managed six hits.
The victory made it two in a row for Lake Washington and bumps their season record up to 10-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Auburn, their defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-10.
