The Middletown Islanders will head out on the road to square off against the Central Falls Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Middletown has now lost 15 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 11.
Last Monday, Middletown was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 47-46 to the Patriots. Middletown has struggled against the Patriots recently, as their contest last Monday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Middletown's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ella Bolano, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and four steals, and Lamaya Gonsalves who scored 13 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gonsalves has scored all season.
Even though they lost, Middletown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Central Falls was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 41-36 to the Northmen. Central Falls has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Middletown dropped their record down to 1-15 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.6 points per game. As for Central Falls, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
Middletown came up short against the Warriors when the teams last played back in January, falling 39-27. Can Middletown avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
