The Chimacum Cowboys will square off against the Bellevue Christian Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Having struggled with seven losses in a row, Chimacum turned things around against South Whidbey last Saturday. They never let the Falcons get on the board and left with a 15-0 win.
Meanwhile, Bellevue Christian put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Saturday. They blew past Vashon Island 10-0. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Mason Hill made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Hill was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Jack Vlahovich and Luke Evenson did most of the damage at the plate: Vlahovich went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Evenson went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Vlahovich a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Declan Englund, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Bellevue Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vashon Island only posted an OBP of .286.
Bellevue Christian's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Chimacum, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-8.
Chimacum suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Bellevue Christian when the teams last played back in March. Will the Cowboys have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
