Make it 13 blowout wins for the Sickles Gryphons this season. Everything went their way against Spoto on Friday as Sickles made off with a 58-32 win. With Sickles ahead 39-10 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Sickles was led to victory by Beckham Hockley and Kelsey Sharpe. Hockley scored 17 points, while Sharpe almost dropped a triple-double on 12 points, ten assists, and nine steals. Hockley hasn't dropped below 15points for 13 straight games. Rye'keriyah Newton was another key contributor, scoring six points along with nine rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Spoto saw an underclassman step up: Jayla Griffin scored 14 points.
Sickles pushed their record up to 15-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Spoto, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sickles will take on Strawberry Crest at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Strawberry Crest will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 426th, while Sickles is ranked 75th). As for Spoto, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Gaither at 6:30 p.m. Gaither will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
