The Marist RedHawks will be playing at home against the Niles Notre Dame Dons at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Marist's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last four matchups.
Marist can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat DePaul College Prep 42-13 at home. Given Marist's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 37th, while DePaul College Prep is ranked 139th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Owen Winters and John McAuliffe were among the main playmakers for Marist as the former rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries and the latter rushed for 102 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Winters was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 62 yards. Kamil Kokot made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Meanwhile, Niles Notre Dame's seven-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 21-20 victory over De La Salle.
Their wins bumped Marist to 5-5 and Niles Notre Dame to 3-7.
Marist beat Niles Notre Dame 35-26 in their previous meeting back in October. Will Marist repeat their success, or does Niles Notre Dame have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
