Softball Recap: Glide Picks Up 11th Consecutive Win

Glide entered their tilt with Coquille on Friday with ten consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 11. They blew past the Red Devils 15-5. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 17-2 win on Friday.

Aryanna Belloir was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Geiger, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Peyton Geiger was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Glide kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Glide pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Coquille, they are on a 23-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Glide is set to take on their familiar foe Douglas at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 3.8, the Trojans 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Coquille will challenge rival South Umpqua at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
