Steinbrenner is on an 11-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Newsome is on a seven-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Warriors will welcome the Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Steinbrenner 1.9, Newsome 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Tuesday, Steinbrenner had just enough and edged out Alonso 4-3.
Lilly Patton tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jenna Fortenberry, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Berkley Demetter was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Newsome never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on East Bay with a sharp 11-0 victory. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Newsome also got a great performance from Haleigh Galvan as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Sarai Nicholas was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emily Grooms, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Newsome was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Newsome's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Steinbrenner, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
Steinbrenner beat Newsome 5-2 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
