Basketball Recap: Kings Way Christian School Comes Up Short

If Kings Way Christian School was feeling good fresh off their 62-29 takedown of Grace Christian last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Kings Way Christian School Crusaders took a blow against the Sugar Hill Christian Academy Stallions on Friday, falling 89-51. The Crusaders were down 61-36 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Despite the loss, Kings Way Christian School saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Drew Hayman posted 18 points in addition to six boards and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hayman has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jed Yarnall, who had eight points and seven rebounds.

Sugar Hill Christian Academy was led to victory by Tyler Veugeler and Nolan Swift. Veugeler went 11 of 15 on his way to 22 points along with six assists and five boards, while Swift dropped a double-double on 29 points and 11 rebounds. With that strong performance, Veugeler is now averaging an impressive 2.7 steals per game. Gabriel Espin was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 10 points and seven boards.

Kings Way Christian School's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Sugar Hill Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 3-8.

Kings Way Christian School wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 69-53 loss against Peoples Baptist Academy on the 9th. As for Sugar Hill Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-52 defeat against War Hill Christian Academy on the 10th.
