The Republic Tigers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 90-48 win over Columbia. The result was nothing new for Republic, who have now won four contests by 24 points or more so far this season.
Republic had a senior duo take command as Vincent Carrillo threw for 282 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 13.4 yards per attempt and Taden Hazenberg gained 306 total yards and four touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of David Jackson, who picked up 78 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Republic's win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.2 points per game. As for Columbia, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Republic will challenge Almira-Coulee-Hartline at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Washington (Almira-Coulee-Hartline is ranked seventh, while Republic is ranked 20th). As for Columbia, they will head out on the road to face off against Odessa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
