The Coachella Valley Mighty Arabs will head out on the road to face off against the Cerritos Dons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Coachella Valley's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last nine matchups.
With a playoff game on the line, Coachella Valley rose to the challenge on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 52-35 victory over Don Lugo. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Aaron Ramirez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 376 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per carry, and also picking up 105 receiving yards and a touchdown. Ramirez's longest rush was for an incredible 83 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek Calderon, who threw for 255 yards and two touchdowns.
Coachella Valley's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. The heavy lifting was done by Javi Oliva and Sebastian Arriaga who racked up four sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Cerritos entered their tilt with Western Christian with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Cerritos walked away with a 55-44 win over Western Christian on Friday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Cerritos can attribute much of their success to Josh Park, who rushed for 72 yards and three touchdowns. Justin Sagun was another major influence, as he rushed for 27 yards and ran in a TD.
Their wins bumped Coachella Valley to 10-2 and Cerritos to 7-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Coachella Valley has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 280.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Cerritos struggles in that department as they've been averaging 192.2 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
