The Clovis West Golden Eagles will take on the St. Joseph Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
On Friday, Clovis West came up short against Clovis and fell 28-17. The Golden Eagles have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Clovis West saw an underclassman step up: freshman Aamir Wright picked up 101 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 2.7 yards per carry. The team can thank Andrew Garcia for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Clovis West; they were averaging 5.4yards per carry per game earlier this season, but in their last three contests they've fallen to only 1.7 per game.

Clovis West's defense didn't let Deagan Rose, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. Elijah Amatt was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last eight games he's played. Another thorn in Clovis' side was Tytus Dimmer, who picked up a sack, made eight total tackles, and defended one pass.
Meanwhile, while St. Joseph put up plenty of points last Friday, the same can't be said for Lompoc. The Knights simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Braves 42-0. Considering the Knights have won eight games by more than 24 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Clovis West better focus on containing Grayson Gaines and Jack Heaslet as the pair were huge in St. Joseph's win. Gaines gained 190 total yards and two touchdowns, while Heaslet threw for 186 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 75% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Heaslet a new career-high in rushing yards (78).
St. Joseph pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 2.6 points on average over those games. As for Clovis West, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
