They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 69-66 victory over Koinonia Academy on Thursday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with Koinonia Academy recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dayton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nick Perez, who went 5-for-9 on his way to 17 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Luke Sherman, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine boards.
Dayton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.
Dayton's victory bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Koinonia Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.
Looking ahead, Dayton will face off against Perth Amboy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Perth Amboy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Dayton likes a good challenge. Koinonia Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
