The Monte Vista Christian Mustangs were the 56-40 winner over the Rancho San Juan Trailblazers when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Monte Vista Christian took a 54-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rancho San Juan on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Monte Vista Christian has scored all season.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Angel Martinez, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Martinez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ethan Quizon, who scored 11 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Monte Vista Christian and nudges their season record down to 16-6. As for Rancho San Juan, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7.
Monte Vista Christian will take on Soledad at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Monte Vista Christian is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 62.6 points per game this season. As for Rancho San Juan, they will head out on the road to challenge North Salinas at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
