The Lake Havasu Knights will face off against the Deer Valley Skyhawks at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lake Havasu has four straight  wins, Deer Valley has three straight  losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, Lake Havasu strolled past Buckeye with  points to spare, taking the game  44-28.

 Luke Johnson had another great game (as  he tends to do), picking up 164 receiving yards and one  score, while also punching in three  TDs on the ground. Those  164  receiving yards gave  him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Tristin Andrade, who rushed for 118 yards and one  touchdown on only ten carries.
 Lake Havasu was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 217  rushing yards. That's the most  rushing yards they've managed all season.
 Lake Havasu's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB  four times. Leading the way was  Owen Merrill with  2.5 sacks.
Meanwhile,  Deer Valley played a tough  game  on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost  45-21 to Chaparral. While the Skyhawks had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Firebirds  7-0.
 Lake Havasu will have to keep a close watch on  Coleston Paxton and  Brody Keith, a pair of players who had a big impact on Deer Valley's prior game. Paxton picked up 115 receiving yards and one  score, while  Keith picked up 73 receiving yards and one  TD. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 70 yards.  Gavin Youngker was another key player, having thrown for 250 yards and two touchdowns.
 Deer Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Lake Havasu, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
 Everything came up roses for Lake Havasu against Deer Valley in their previous meeting  back in November of 2022, as the  squad secured  a  63-21 win. Will the Knights repeat their success,  or do  the Skyhawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
