The Bronaugh Wildcats struggled with assists on Thursday (the Sheldon Panthers had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Bronaugh suffered a rough 55-32 defeat at the hands of Sheldon. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Bronaugh in their matchups with Sheldon: they've now lost six in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Bronaugh lost, one person who can't be blamed is Strauss Banes. Despite the final result, he scored eight points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Banes also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tucker Duncan, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Shon Bogart continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Sheldon, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Bogart has scored at least 25% of Sheldon's points. Riley Chapman was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Bronaugh's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Sheldon, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bronaugh will challenge Ballard at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Ballard is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for Sheldon, they will head out on the road to face off against Wheatland at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Wheatland presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sheldon in Missouri (Wheatland is ranked 128th, while Sheldon is ranked 261st).
