The Webberville Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 52-25 loss at the hands of Morrice. Webberville lost against Morrice in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 34-30 score last time.
Leading Morrice to victory were Payton Goodine and Aubrey Rogers. Goodine scored 17 points along with five steals, while Rogers almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. Rogers has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Alexa Rose was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 13 rebounds and four steals.
Webberville has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Morrice, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Webberville will take on Byron at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Byron comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Morrice, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome St. Patrick at 5:30 p.m. on February 5th. St. Patrick is coming into the matchup with five straight wins on the road, so Morrice is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
