It was a good run, but the Hammond Central Wolves unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Wednesday. They were outmatched by Lincoln-Way East on the road and fell 75-41. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hammond Central has scored all season.
Several Wolves players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kennedy Blakely, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniyah Henry, who scored 13 points.
Hammond Central's loss dropped their record down to 13-3. As for Lincoln-Way East, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.
Hammond Central is on the road again on Thursday and play against Hinsdale South at 10:30 a.m. on December 28th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Hinsdale South is ranked 86th in Illinois, while Hammond Central is ranked 70th in Indiana). Lincoln-Way East won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Romeoville at 1:30 p.m. on December 28th. Romeoville will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
