Izard County had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They never let the Marshall Bobcats get on the board and left with  an   18-0  victory. Considering the Cougars have won six contests by more than seven  runs this season, Thursday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Xander McCandlis was a  major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he  didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only  one  hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-4 with four  RBI, one  run,  and one  double. Those  four  RBI gave  him a new career-high.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Portor Burton, who  got on base  in all four of his plate appearances with one  home run, three  runs,  and four  RBI. Those  four  RBI gave  him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Kade Yancey, who  went 2-for-3 with three  runs and three  RBI.
Izard County's win was  their third straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 14-5. The  road  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Marshall,  they are  on  a  nine-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 2-13.
 Coming up, Izard County will face off against Norfork at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday. Marshall does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
