The Perry Pumas will head out on the road to challenge the Mountain View Toros at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Perry is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, it was close, but Perry sidestepped Basha for a 2-1 win. The Pumas haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Michael Orbegozo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. Those hits marked the first that he allowed this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Max DeFrancesco, who went 2-for-3 with one home run.
Perry hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Basha struck out eight times.
Meanwhile, Mountain View entered their tilt with Westwood on Tuesday with seven consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with eight. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Warriors.
Lincoln Arrington looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two).
At the plate, Brady Goodman was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Brody Newton was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.
Mountain View pushed their record up to 12-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Perry, their record now sits at 14-4.
Perry was able to grind out a solid victory over Mountain View when the teams last played back in March, winning 5-1. Will the Pumas repeat their success, or do the Toros have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
