Tony Castro looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Nate Davis was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Danny Garcia was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Bishop Moore always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Eustis ultimately got the result they hoped for on Sunday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Vanguard, sneaking past 4-3.
The team relied heavily on Braeden Barnes, who went 2-for-3 with two runs. Eustis is 6-1 when Barnes posts two or more runs, but 11-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Parker Yero, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Eustis' win bumped their record up to 17-13. As for Bishop Moore, their victory bumped their record up to 27-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bishop Moore has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Eustis struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Bishop Moore came out on top in a nail-biter against Eustis when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 1-0. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
