After losing to the Wayne Preparatory Academy Generals the last time they met, the Riverside Christian Academy Royals decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Riverside Christian Academy walked away with a 50-42 win over the Generals on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Riverside Christian Academy.
Riverside Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Paris Autry out in front who scored 18 points along with four steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Autry has scored at least a third of Riverside Christian Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Unique Cooke, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
D'Asiah Lassiter and Onisty Jones certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Lassiter scored 15 points, while Jones scored 12 points. Lassiter is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight.
Riverside Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 13-1. As for Wayne Preparatory Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 14-11.
Riverside Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on February 2nd. American Leadership Academy-Johnston will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 545th, while the Royals are ranked 160th). As for Wayne Preparatory Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against the Holy Rams at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for Word of God Christian Academy: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while the Generals have snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.
