The Tri-State Christian Huskies entered their tilt with the Morning Star Academy Mustangs with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Tri-State Christian snuck past Morning Star Academy with a 48-44 victory on Tuesday. For Tri-State Christian, this counts as revenge for the 55-43 loss Morning Star Academy walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Tri-State Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nick Vannorsdel out in front who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vannorsdel has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Will Cunningham, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Morning Star Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gavin Trotter. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Trotter hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellen Axtman, who scored 12 points.
Tri-State Christian pushed their record up to 7-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.2 points per game. As for Morning Star Academy, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Tri-State Christian will be playing at home against Quad Cities Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Quad Cities Christian is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.4 points per game. As for Morning Star Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Unity Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Unity Christian comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
