The Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle will challenge the Mountain View Bruins at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Juan Diego Catholic has four straight victories, Mountain View has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, Juan Diego Catholic sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 15-14 win over Tooele. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Soaring Eagle have posted against the Buffaloes since March 12, 2020.

The team relied heavily on Castle Huggard, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Richardson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Juan Diego Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are 8-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, while it was Mountain View who put the first runs on the board on Friday, it was Timpanogos who put up more. The Bruins lost 15-5 to the Timberwolves.
Josh Hair was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Mountain View: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-14 otherwise. Caden Imes was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Juan Diego Catholic's win bumped their record up to 13-11. As for Mountain View, their loss dropped their record down to 9-15.
Juan Diego Catholic took their victory against Mountain View when the teams last played back in March of 2016 by a conclusive 9-2 score. Do the Soaring Eagle have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bruins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
