THORNTON, Colo. - the Maverick had a big 35-point first quarter on Saturday, sealing a 49-0 victory over Skyview (Thornton, Colo.).
Mead scored on a
Kyle Couch touchdown run, a defensive touchdown, a touchdown pass by
Griffin Nelson to
Aaron Cheung, a touchdown run by Couch and a Nelson touchdown pass to
John Brady in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Couch in the first quarter, MHS was up 42-0 at the half.
A 35-point first quarter set the table for the Longmont school, who coasted the rest of the way for the victory.
Mead's standout player in the win was Nelson. The senior quarterback threw three touchdowns. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.
The loss was the fourth in a row for the Wolverines.
