Southwest (Fort Worth, Texas) receiver Robbie Rhodes had a record-setting night, catching 10 passes for 394 yards and eight touchdowns in a 66-21 victory over Arlington Heights, according to the Star-Telegram.
Rhodes' eight touchdowns ties a national record previously held only by
Cathedral (Los Angeles, Calif.) receiver Earvin Johnson, who hauled in eight touchdowns in a 1998 game against St. Genevieve.
Rhodes shatters the previous Texas state record of six touchdowns. His 394 yards is also a new state record.
The blowout victory for Southwest avenges a 37-14 loss to Arlington Heights a year ago.
Rhodes' feat comes during a season in which several receiving records have been threatened.
No. 1 recruit
Dorial Green-Beckham is on the verge of setting the national record for career receiving yards. Indiana receiver
Gehrig Dieter could threaten the season yardage mark, while the record for most receptions in a game (32) has also been challenged.
