The Haynes Academy fell victim to the Kennedy Cougars''s stalwart defense on Saturday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 55-0 loss at the hands of the Cougars. While losing is never fun, Haynes Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 277th, while Kennedy is ranked 53rd).
Amyne Darensbourg had a dynamite game for Kennedy, throwing for 171 yards and five touchdowns on only ten passes, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Kenneth Chelsea iii and his 84 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Kennedy's win.
Haynes Academy's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 0.0 points per game. As for Kennedy, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Haynes Academy will be playing at home against Livingston Collegiate Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Kennedy, they will head out on the road to face off against Patrick Taylor Science & Tech Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
