They pulled ahead with a 60-59 photo finish over Friendship Christian. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Kyren Smith continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 4-for-10 from deep and dropping a double-double on 41 points and ten rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zachary Powery, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Friendship Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eugene Amadi, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Amadi has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Hunter Peed, who scored 17 points along with six assists.
Even though they lost, Friendship Christian were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill only racked up eight assists.
Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Friendship Christian, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7.
