Baseball Recap: Eastern Gets the Win

Eastern let Symmes Valley stack six runs on them in the fifth inning on Friday but luckily Eastern prevailed anyway. The Eagles came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 9-6. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won three in a row.

Brady Rockhold made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Rockhold was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Clayton Moore looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Ayden Wilhelm was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Ethan Edwards, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Eastern's record now sits at 17-4. As for Symmes Valley, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-7.

Looking ahead, Eastern will host Valley at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Indians will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Symmes Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against South Gallia at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
