Johnson-Brock has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against The Sandhills/Thedford Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Johnson-Brock has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 519 points over their last ten games.
Johnson-Brock put the finishing touches on their tenth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 36-14 margin over Anselmo-Merna.
It was another big night for Sloan Pelican, who rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 100 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. Johnson-Brock also got help from Chase VanWinkle who showed off his sure hands for 85 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Sandhills/Thedford stacked a eighth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Lourdes Central Catholic on the road to the tune of 52-12. Winning may never get old, but Sandhills/Thedford sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Sandhills/Thedford's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kyle Cox, who rushed for 231 yards and five touchdowns. Cox hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for ten straight games. Coby Higgins also helped out as he racked up 110 rushing yards.
Johnson-Brock's win was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 10-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Sandhills/Thedford, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as Johnson-Brock and Sandhills/Thedford have no problem gaining yardage. Johnson-Brock has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 381.9 total yards per game. However, it's not like Sandhills/Thedford struggles in that department as they've been even better at 399.1 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
