Desert Oasis is a perfect 6-0 against Silverado since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Diamondbacks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Skyhawks at 4:00 p.m. Desert Oasis is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 15.8 runs per game this season.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Desert Oasis and Bonanza meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again last Wednesday. The Diamondbacks came out on top against the Bengals by a score of 6-2.
Alissa Perkins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Taylor Adams and Nolly Newbry did most of the damage at the plate: Adams went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs, while Newbry got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlynn Hello, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Silverado had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Spartans. Considering the Skyhawks have won 12 contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Leiani Malakaua was a standout: she fired off two home runs, four RBI, and one double while going 3-for-5. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Malia Pacheco was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Silverado always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cimarron-Memorial only posted an OBP of .393.
Desert Oasis has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. As for Silverado, their win bumped their record up to 14-10.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Desert Oasis hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .443. However, it's not like Silverado struggles in that department as they've averaged .488. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Desert Oasis came out on top in a nail-biter against Silverado in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, sneaking past 6-5. Do the Diamondbacks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Skyhawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
