It was a good run, but the Standley Lake Gators unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against Dakota Ridge, falling 69-38. While losing is never fun, Standley Lake can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while the Eagles are ranked 46th).
Standley Lake's loss came despite strong showings from Asher Serlen and Titus Schrecengost. Serlen scored 12 points along with three blocks, while Schrecengost scored ten points along with five steals. Serlen has been hot recently, having posted three or more blocks the last five times he's played.
It was another big night for Ethan Berninger, who scored 22 points for Dakota Ridge. Berninger is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cody Rominger, who scored nine points along with two blocks.
Standley Lake's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Dakota Ridge, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4.
Standley Lake will head out on the road to face off against the Lions at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Littleton's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches. As for Dakota Ridge, they will square off against the Ravens at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Denver South focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Wednesday.
