AAAA Region 6A recap October 8, 2013
Lithonia and Stone Mountain played the most contested game in AAAA Region 6A this week, with Lithonia eventually emerging with a 22-18 victory.
The Bulldogs made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,513 from 7,298. The advance stemmed from a 22-18 victory over the Pirates last week.
Chamblee's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kendrew Wynn threw for 42 yards and Brenton Burgess had 31 yards receiving. On the ground Xzavier Shugars contributed 115 yards. Kobe' Ross helped Chamblee's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 24 yards.
Shugars provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Bulldogs beat Redan.
Burgess was the best wideout in the league this week as Chamblee topped the Raiders. Burgess tallied 1 reception for 31 yards. Ross helped Chamblee's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 24 yards.
Chamblee's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bulldogs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Wynn has thrown for 292 yards and 3 touchdowns this season, while Burgess has 5 catches for 137 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Allen Johnson's team takes on Columbia. The Bulldogs are currently in first, while the Eagles are in fifth.
