Independence let Arriana Aguilar and Lynnia Holden run wild. Aguilar went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Holden went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double. Those three RBI gave Aguilar a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Laila Morales, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Leland typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Christopher proved too difficult a challenge. They had just enough and edged out the Chargers 6-4. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Katelyn Vega spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on ten hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Alexis Herbst was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Bella Loredo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Independence now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Christopher, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.
Christopher's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Independence has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Christopher, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.5 strikeouts. Will Independence keep running through batters, or will the Cougars buck the trend?
