The Rosewood Eagles will face off against the Voyager Academy Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Rosewood comes in on six and Voyager Academy on ten.
Rosewood is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let East Wake Academy get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Rosewood has posted since March 27th.

05/09/25 vs West Columbus | 1 |
05/01/25 @ Hobbton | 1 |
04/21/25 @ East Duplin | 1 |
04/15/25 vs North Duplin | 2 |
04/09/25 vs Farmville Central | 2 |
Not much got past Robbie Boren, who gave up just four hits to keep East Wake Academy off the board. Boren has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Rosewood's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cuyler Jones, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Voyager Academy was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They had just enough and edged out Pamlico County 3-2.
The team relied heavily on Jacobi Purvis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Carrick Ryan was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Voyager Academy's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Rosewood, their victory bumped their record up to 21-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Rosewood has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Voyager Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Rosewood skirted past Voyager Academy 7-6 in their previous meeting back in May of 2017. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
