The DSST: Montview Knights waltzed into their match on Saturday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They were the clear victor by a 84-58 margin over Lake County. Given DSST: Montview's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Lake County is ranked 207th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Harun Hamma was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 33 points and 5 assists. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tegra Kongolo, who scored 20 points.
When it comes to explaining why Lake County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Canaan Hall. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with five steals. That's the first time this season that Hall scored 15 or more points. Isaiah Martinez was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
DSST: Montview's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.5 points per game. As for Lake County, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
DSST: Montview will be playing in front of their home fans against Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jefferson has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 4. As for Lake County, they will head out on the road to square off against Sheridan at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sheridan comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
