Basketball Recap: Cedaredge Comes Up Short

Cedaredge was the 75-48 winner over Olathe when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cedaredge Bruins fell 68-59 to the Olathe Pirates on Tuesday. While the Bruins didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Pirates 14-9 in the first quarter.

When it comes to explaining why Cedaredge lost, don't look at Rylan Brooks. Despite the final result, he went 5 for 11 on his way to 16 points and six boards. That's the most points Brooks has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Sanders, who posted 16 points.

Even though they lost, Cedaredge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Olathe to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isaiah Gordon, who had 22 points and seven rebounds. Gordon has been hot recently, having posted 22 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Elijah Gordon, who went 5 of 11 en route to 13 points and five steals.

Cedaredge has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for Olathe, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-4.

Cedaredge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-33 defeat against Roaring Fork on the 17th. Olathe has also already played their next matchup, a 59-57 loss against Meeker on the 17th.
