Salem Academy will square off against Madras at 7:00 PM on Friday. Madras will be strutting in after a win while Salem Academy will be stumbling in from a defeat.
Last Friday, Salem Academy were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap, as they fell 21-27 to Yamhill-Carlton. On a positive note, junior Cameron Haslebacher put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 196 yards and 1 touchdown. Haslebacher has now scored at least one touchdown in the past four games.
Meanwhile, Madras put the finishing touches on their 3rd blowout victory of the season. Everything went their way against Corbett as they made off with a 24-0 victory. The rankings were on Madras' side, but they didn't forecast quite such a lopsided result.
Salem Academy's loss took them down to 3-5 while Madras's win pulled them up to 5-3. A win for Salem Academy would reverse both their bad luck and Madras's good luck. We'll see if Salem Academy manages to pull off that tough task or if Madras keeps their momentum going instead.
