Even though the Bellmont Braves have not done well against the Huntington North Vikings recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Bellmont walked away with a 62-50 victory over Huntington North. Given Bellmont's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while Huntington North is ranked 215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Huntington North's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Zahn, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Dalton Husband, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Bellmont has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Huntington North, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.
Bellmont will be playing at home against Leo at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Huntington North, they will head out on the road to face off against DeKalb at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
