Wetumka is 1-0 against Summit Christian Academy since October of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Wetumka Chieftains will be staying on the road to face off against the Summit Christian Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on October 19th. Wetumka will be strutting in after a win while Summit Christian Academy will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Thursday, Wetumka took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 54-8 victory over Snyder. Given Wetumka's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Snyder is ranked 250th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Summit Christian Academy pushed their score all the way to 36 two weeks ago, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Davenport by a score of 38-36. Summit Christian Academy just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.
Despite the defeat, Summit Christian Academy had strong showings from James Logan, who rushed for 167 yards and two touchdowns, and Peyton Murray, who picked up 125 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Wetumka now has a winning record of 4-3. Summit Christian Academy has been struggling this season, as they've lost seven of their first eight games, which leaves them at a 1-7 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Wetumka against Summit Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 49-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wetumka since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
