The Andover Huskies will square off against the Elk River Elks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Andover has six straight victories, Elk River has nine straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, Andover needed a bit of extra time to put away Spring Lake Park. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 10-7. Andover's win was all the more impressive since the Panthers were averaging only 2.54 runs allowed on the season.

Alex Kostecka spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Chloe Brown was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Andover kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Elk River didn't have quite enough to beat St. Francis on Wednesday and fell 6-5.
Alexa Dakis made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. Kassie Balabon was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run.
Elk River's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Andover, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
Elk River's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Andover hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .389. It's a different story for Elk River, though, as they've only averaged .239. Will they be able to contain Andover's hitters?
Andover beat Elk River 11-7 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Elks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
