The Jackson Vikings entered their tilt with the Oak Park Knights with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Jackson rang in the new year with a 60-53 win over Oak Park on Saturday. Given Jackson's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while Oak Park is ranked 350th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Darrion Weller, who scored 23 points. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Koronnis Davis, who scored 13 points.
Jackson's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Oak Park, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
Jackson will head out on the road to face off against Waverly at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Waverly will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. Oak Park will take on Clarkston at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clarkston has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 3-0 during that stretch of close contests.
