The Mineral Ridge Rams pushed their score all the way to 61 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 65-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of McKinley. Mineral Ridge was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as McKinley apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Despite the loss, Mineral Ridge saw an underclassman step up: Chase Moore dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Moore hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Blake Basista was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Mineral Ridge has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for McKinley, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mineral Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next game is against McKinley at 7:00 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully McKinley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday. As for McKinley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against McDonald at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
