Phoenix Country Day has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Red Rock Scorpions at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Phoenix Country Day knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 matches -- so hopefully the Scorpions like a good challenge.
Phoenix Country Day can now show off 19 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Saturday. They really took it to Arizona Lutheran Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 74-30 win at home. Phoenix Country Day's victory was all the more impressive since the Coyotes were averaging only 28.57 points allowed on the season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Phoenix Country Day to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aila Kaibara, who scored 30 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Kaibara is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Olivia Owens, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Red Rock's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt a 61-11 loss at the hands of Northland Prep Academy.
Phoenix Country Day's win was their 28th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-3. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 41.5 points. As for Red Rock, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-15 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Phoenix Country Day against the Scorpions in their previous meeting last Saturday as the squad secured a 68-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Phoenix Country Day since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
