Crown Point has gone a perfect 10-0 against Chesterton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Bulldogs will host the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Crown Point is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.
On Tuesday, Crown Point made easy work of Portage and carried off a 17-5 win. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by eight runs or more this season.
Paige Liezert looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Crown Point got a massive performance out of Ashlyn Kita, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Lulu Johnston, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base.
Crown Point lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Chesterton unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against Lake Central, falling 12-1. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Trojans couldn't push the score so high this time.
Crown Point pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Chesterton, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Crown Point hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .395. However, it's not like Chesterton struggles in that department as they've averaged .329. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Crown Point took their victory against Chesterton in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 15-3 score. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
