The Lumen Christi Archangels's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They fell to Birchwood Christian 44-38. Lumen Christi was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Birchwood Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.
Birchwood Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Severns, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Severns has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Guderian, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 19 rebounds.
Lumen Christi's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-11. As for Birchwood Christian, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lumen Christi will play host again and welcome Cook Inlet Academy, where tip off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Birchwood Christian, they will be playing at home against Non Varsity Opponent at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
